Camino by Project Second Voice

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the current production version of the Camino iOS app handles information.

Effective date: September 28, 2026

1. Overview

Camino is a free educational and preparedness app developed through Project Second Voice. The current iOS app does not require or offer an account, login, or authentication system. Project Second Voice does not operate a Camino backend server, remote database, or cloud account for app users.

Camino does not sell personal information. It does not contain advertising, advertising attribution, cross-app tracking, third-party crash reporting, or third-party app analytics in the installed iOS runtime.

2. Information stored on your device

Camino uses local app storage on the device to remember features you use. Depending on your activity, this may include:

  • learning and scenario progress, completed modules, missed questions, mastery information, XP, streaks, goals, badges, and achievements;
  • language, sound, haptic, difficulty, wellness-pause, tutorial, and reminder preferences;
  • partially completed scenario sessions;
  • Prepare answers, tasks, completion status, reminder notes, and general notes;
  • trusted contact names, phone numbers, roles, and notes that you choose to enter;
  • school or program notes, medical or care notes, attorney or organization information, pickup contacts, transportation and support plans, appointment information, questions for legal help, and notes about where important documents are stored.

This information remains in Camino’s local storage on your device. Camino does not upload it to Project Second Voice, Google Fonts, or the organizations listed in Help.

Camino does not access your iPhone Contacts database. Contact information appears in the app only when you type it into Prepare. Camino does not serve as secure document storage: it does not ask you to upload document files, images, or scans. A document-location field is a text note about where you keep documents.

If you use Camino’s copy, text export, or print controls, iOS and any app or destination you select will handle the resulting copy or file. Review that destination before sharing a plan, especially when it contains sensitive information.

3. Technical network requests

The installed iOS app packages its interface and content locally and disables Vercel Web Analytics in the native runtime. However, the current production bundle requests the Nunito typeface from Google Fonts when a network connection is available.

To deliver that stylesheet and font file, Google’s servers necessarily receive technical request information, including the device’s public IP address and HTTP information such as the requested font URL and user-agent details describing the browser and operating system. Google operates independently and handles this technical data under its own privacy terms. Project Second Voice does not receive this request data from Google and does not include your Camino planner entries, contacts, notes, settings, or learning progress in the request.

Camino has no other automatic app API, backend, authentication, cloud-storage, advertising, attribution, telemetry, remote-database, or remote-notification connection in the current production code.

4. Local notifications

Practice reminders are optional local notifications. Camino asks for notification permission only after you choose to enable reminders. The app schedules generic reminders directly through iOS; it does not use a remote push-notification server or send reminder preferences or practice activity to Project Second Voice.

You can turn reminders off in Camino or change Camino’s notification permission in iOS Settings.

5. Third-party resource links and external websites

Camino includes links to public resources operated by government agencies, nonprofit organizations, legal-service directories, and other providers. When you choose a resource, Camino opens the provider’s website in a browser view. Camino does not send your Prepare plan or learning progress with that link.

Once you leave Camino and visit another website, that third party operates independently and may collect information—such as IP address, cookies, form entries, or browsing activity—according to its own privacy policy. Project Second Voice does not control those websites, their services, their availability, or their privacy practices.

Email links open your device’s email application. If you send a support message, Project Second Voice receives the address, message, and attachments you choose to send. Support email is voluntary. Do not send immigration documents, case or A-numbers, government IDs, medical records, passwords, exact addresses, or other sensitive information.

6. Children and minors

Camino includes general educational material that may be useful to students and families, but it does not ask for a birth date, create child profiles, or intentionally collect a child’s personal information through an account or backend. Information a minor enters into Prepare is stored locally on that device, subject to the Google Fonts technical request described above.

Young users should involve a trusted adult when appropriate and should avoid entering sensitive details on a shared device.

7. Data security

Keeping information local reduces remote exposure, but local storage is not the same as encrypted document storage or a secure vault. Anyone with access to an unlocked or shared device may be able to see Camino’s locally stored plan. Use the device passcode and iOS security features, enter only what is useful, and avoid storing unnecessary sensitive details.

No method of storage or transmission is guaranteed to be completely secure.

8. Retention and deletion

Locally stored Camino information remains on the device until it is changed, removed through an available in-app control, or the app is deleted. Under normal iOS behavior, deleting Camino removes the app and its local app container, including Camino’s local storage. An iOS device backup may retain app data according to Apple’s backup and restore settings and retention practices.

Because Project Second Voice does not receive or maintain the local app data, it cannot retrieve, view, correct, or delete that data remotely.

Google and external websites determine their own retention and deletion practices for the limited technical or user-submitted information they receive.

9. Changes to this policy

Project Second Voice may update this policy when Camino’s features, data practices, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top will identify the current version. Material privacy changes will be reflected in the policy and, where required, in Camino and App Store disclosures before the changed version is released.
