Los Angeles, California

June 23, 2026

Invited by United We Dream to represent the organization as a youth leader and founder of Project Second Voice during a congressional advocacy meeting with the staff of Congressman Brad Sherman (California's 32nd Congressional District).

During the meeting, I shared one of the immigrant stories collected through Project Second Voice to highlight the real-world impact that immigration policies have on individuals and families. The discussion focused on current immigration challenges, including:

  • DACA processing delays
  • Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
  • The Dream and Promise Act

This meeting demonstrated how community storytelling can directly inform policy discussions and ensure that lived experiences are represented in conversations with congressional offices.

Beyond the meeting itself, one meaningful outcome was the opportunity to connect a Project Second Voice community member who had been personally affected by DACA processing delays with support through United We Dream. After sharing her story, I was able to introduce her to the appropriate United We Dream team so she could access guidance and resources regarding her situation.

This experience reinforced Project Second Voice's mission of not only amplifying immigrant voices but also helping connect community members with organizations and resources that can support them.

The congressional seal is used solely as a visual identifier for the congressional meeting. This milestone summary does not imply endorsement by Congressman Brad Sherman, the United States Congress, or the U.S. House of Representatives.

Why this reach matters

Digital audience growth is not the mission by itself, but it signals that people are listening. Each view, comment, and share represents a moment of attention directed toward an immigrant story that might otherwise remain unheard.

That visibility helps widen understanding, strengthen representation, and create new pathways for conversation across schools, communities, organizations, and media spaces.
